What is Agentic AI?

Agentic AI is artificial intelligence that takes goal-directed actions to get something done, rather than just producing a reply. A regular AI response answers a question; an agentic system decides what needs to happen next and does it — answer the question, qualify the lead, book the appointment, or route the conversation to the right person. The "agentic" part means it has a goal and can act toward it, not just chat.

The Core Idea: Goals, Not Just Answers

To pursue that goal, an agentic system typically:

  1. Understands what the customer wants from their message

  4. Acts on that decision within the conversation
  5. Escalates to a human with a summary when that's the right move
