Markdown Converter

Convert HTML, plain text, PDF, DOCX, or Notion content to clean Markdown format

Press ⌘+Enter to convert

Why Should You Convert Content to Markdown?

Markdown is the universal format for structured text content. It's used by documentation platforms (GitHub, GitBook), static site generators (Next.js, Hugo, Jekyll), CMS systems (Notion, Obsidian), and increasingly by AI systems for structured content like llms.txt files.

Converting your existing HTML, PDF, DOCX, or Notion content to Markdown makes it portable across platforms, easier to maintain, and more readable for both humans and AI systems.

How Do You Convert PDF or DOCX to Markdown?

For PDF files: Open the PDF, select all text (Ctrl+A / ⌘+A), copy it, and paste into the "PDF / DOCX / Notion to Markdown" tab above. The converter will detect headings, lists, and structure from the pasted text. For complex PDFs with tables, consider copying section-by-section for better results.

For DOCX files: Open in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, select all content, copy, and paste. Alternatively, use Google Docs to export as HTML (File → Download → Web Page), then use the "HTML to Markdown" tab for the most accurate conversion with formatting preserved.

For Notion pages: Select the content blocks, click the "..." menu, and choose "Copy as plain text" or "Export as HTML". Paste into the appropriate tab.

What HTML Elements Does This Converter Support?

  • Headings: h1 through h6 → #, ##, ###, etc.
  • Text formatting: bold, italic, links, images
  • Lists: Ordered and unordered lists with nesting
  • Tables: HTML tables → Markdown pipe tables
  • Code: Code blocks and inline code
