Using with OpenAI Codex

Beta

Connect Hyperleap CRM to OpenAI Codex (web/desktop) via the Model Context Protocol. Read-only access to your leads, pipeline, conversations, and AI-extracted insights — directly from Codex.

What is the CRM MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external data sources. The Hyperleap CRM MCP gives Codex read-only access to your CRM data — leads, pipeline stages, conversations, notes, and AI-extracted insights. Once connected, you can ask Codex questions about your CRM in natural language:

  • "Show me my CRM dashboard"
  • "How many new leads did I get this week?"
  • "Tell me everything about this lead"
  • "What did this lead ask about in their conversations?"
Tip:
The CRM MCP provides read-only access. Codex can view your CRM data but cannot create, update, or delete any records.

Prerequisites

  • Hyperleap account — with CRM data (leads captured through your chatbots)
  • OpenAI Codex — the web or desktop client, with MCP connectors enabled on your account
Tip:
Codex's MCP connector UI lives in the same settings area as other ChatGPT integrations. If you don't see MCP connectors in your settings, check that your plan and account have MCP support enabled.

Step 1: Generate an MCP Key in Hyperleap Studio

MCP keys authenticate Codex with your Hyperleap CRM. Each key acts as you, so Codex only sees leads you have access to.

In Hyperleap Studio, click your profile avatar in the top-right corner, choose "My MCP Keys", then click "+ Create MCP Key". Give the key a descriptive name like Codex and click Create.

Name the key "Codex" so you can identify it later, then click Create
Note:
The key is only shown once after creation. Copy it immediately and store it securely — if you lose it, you'll need to create a new one.

Step 2: Connect Codex to Hyperleap

In the Codex desktop app, add Hyperleap as a custom MCP server and authenticate with the key you just generated.

1

Open Codex Settings

In the Codex desktop app, click the menu in the bottom-left corner and select Settings.

Open the menu in the bottom-left corner and click Settings
2

Open MCP Servers and Add a New One

In the Settings sidebar, click MCP servers. On the MCP servers screen, click "+ Add new MCP server" to start configuring a custom server.

Select MCP servers from the Settings sidebar, then click + Add new MCP server
3

Configure the Custom MCP Server

On the Connect to a custom MCP screen, switch the transport tab to Streamable HTTP and fill in the following fields:

  • Name: Hyperleap AI (Leads and Conversations)
  • URL: https://api.hyperleapai.com/mcp
  • Bearer token: paste the MCP key you copied in Step 1

Leave the Headers and Headers from environment variables sections empty — Codex sends the bearer token automatically. Click Save to finish.

Note:
The URL must be exactly https://api.hyperleapai.com/mcp. Other URLs (such as api.hyperleap.ai) will not work.

Use Streamable HTTP, set the URL to https://api.hyperleapai.com/mcp, and paste your MCP key as the bearer token

Step 3: Verify the Connection

Once connected, start a new conversation in Codex and try asking about your CRM data:

"Show me my CRM dashboard"

Codex should call the Hyperleap CRM MCP and display your dashboard data, including lead counts, pipeline stages, and recent activity.

Tip:
If Codex doesn't use the CRM tools automatically, name them explicitly: "Use the Hyperleap CRM MCP to show me my dashboard."

Troubleshooting

  • No MCP connectors option in Codex — MCP support may not be enabled on your account. Check ChatGPT/Codex settings, and confirm your plan supports custom MCP servers.
  • Connection fails — Double-check that the connector URL is exactly https://api.hyperleapai.com/mcp. Other URLs will not work.
  • Authentication error — Verify your MCP key is correct and has not been revoked. Check active keys in My MCP Keys (from the profile menu in Hyperleap Studio).
  • No data returned — Ensure your Hyperleap account has CRM data (leads captured through your chatbots). An empty CRM will return empty results.
  • Key lost — MCP keys are shown only once. If you've lost your key, create a new one in My MCP Keys (from the profile menu).
